A Study Of Sanskrit - Dr Prasanna Kumar Aithal

Sanskrit has played a vital role in the development of all Indian languages and in the preservation of the cultural heritage of India languages can flourish without the theoretical foundation of ancient sciences.



Hence, It becomes essential to preserve and propagate Sanskrit for around development of every Human and Nation.
There are Ten Sanskrit Universities in India. Sanskrit is taught in about 250 Universities in about 40 countries of the globe. There are about 5000 traditional Sanskrit Phatashalas, About three crore students studying Sanskrit from I to XII Classes.


Two types of Centers for Sanskrit Studies:

1.Traditional Institutions called Pathasalas, Gurukulas, Vidyapithas or Maha vidyalayas.
2.Modern Institutions which fall into three categories.
    i.Degree Colleges
    ii.Post Graduates Departments of Sanskrit in the Universities
   iii.Research Institutes.


Traditional Courses:

The traditional Institutions teach the first three courses in Sanskrit called Prathama, Khavya and Sahitya.
Next two advanced courses in Sanskrit are VIDWAT MADHYAMA & VIDWAT UTTAMA.

Modern Institutions:

Degree Colleges have provision for the study of Sanskrit as a language for 400 marks during the 4 semester degree course.
Some Colleges have Sanskrit as Major Subject.
Now, Karnataka university has P.G and Research Center at Bengaluru.
In Karnataka, Six Universities has Sanskrit P.G Departments and Research Centers.
There are M.A in Sanskrit, MPhill and PhD courses available in same manner.
Some colleges has Sanskrit B.Ed courses too..



Career Opportunities:

  1. If one completes B.Ed and Vidwath, He/she can join as a teacher in High schools which presently has a great demand
  2. If one completes M.A, He/She gets teaching opportunities at P.U Colleges and Degree Colleges as a Lecturer 
  3. If MPhill or PhD completed, Teaching opportunities at Degree Colleges as Assistant professor
Even lots of opportunities as a research Scholar at many great research institute..
