Kundapura: DYFI staged protest against increase in drinking water price
DYFI has staged a protest opposing the increase in the drinking water unit piece by Kundapur Municipality. A procession led by the local agitation committee,started from B.C.Road near ‘Akshara’ building. Hundreds of men and women took part in the rally. The protesters reacted angrily against the Municipality officer’s decision of increasing the water bills.
The procession passed through NH 66 and reached Basrur ‘Mooru Kai’. An agitation meeting was held beside the NH 66. DYFI leader Suresh Kallagar criticized the Municipality,for not listening to the demand of the public and reduce the drinking water unit price. Addressing the protest he said..
“The local MLA is a popular figure among the local residents. But he has not done anything in favor of the public. Even though,we made regular demands to decrease the drinking water price to the officers,no one has listened to it. At last the DYFI has submitted a memorandum in this matter to the Municipality officers but our MLA has not interfered in it”.
Local Agitation committee convener Shekhar Donimane,co-convenor Santhosh D.,Santhosh Kallagar,Ganesh Kallagar,Kundapur Taluk committee Prabhkar Neralekatte Raja B.T.R. were present at the protest.
