Kundapura: World Suicide Prevention Day held at Mata Shri Hospital
Kundapura, Sept 10:
World Suicide Prevention Day was organized jointly by Shri Mata Hospital Kundapur and Lions & Lioness Club Brahmavar-Barkur recently at Shri Mata Hospital.
Inaugurating the programme,Kundapur Dy.SP Yashodha S.Vantigodi said “Committing suicide when problem comes,is not right. There is always a solution for each problem. Yoga and such practices can heal our mental pressure”.
“For silly reasons,people are committing suicide in these days. This is very unfortunate. These types of programmes will help in guiding the people. Schools and colleges should hold such type of positive programmes which can guide to overcome mental pressures” she said.
Psychiatrist Dr.K.S.Latha, addressing the programme said “Suicide is becoming a social decease in the developing countries,especially in the age group of 16-24. In India,more than 1 lakh people attempt suicide every year. It is our duty to prevent people from committing such henious act. We have to understand first,what is the reason behind committing sucide and how we can stop it”. she said.
Well known Psychiatrist specialist Dr.Prakash Tolar presided over the programme. Medical Director Dr.Sathish Poojari, Kundapur Journalist association president Shashidhar Hemmadi,Lions club president Dayananda Shetty and Lioness club president Hema Shetty were present at the stage.
A.S.W.Councillor Laxmi and Komala compered the programme.
