Udupi: Former BJP MLA Raghupathi Bhat Unites in Marriage with Shilpa Shastri

Raghupathi Bhat, former BJP MLA from Udupi constituency has entered into wedlock on Wednesday October 9, for a second time, with Shilpa Shastri a divorcee hailing from Barkur near Brahmavar.
The simple wedding ceremony held at Sri Venkataramana Temple at Karambally was attended by their relatives, few close friends and well wishers. The wedding ceremony was solemnised by the temple chief priest Shrikanth Upadhaya. The consent of both the families. Entrepreneur Dr G Shanker, Manohar Shetty, former Byndoor MLA Laxminarayana and other leaders visited Karamabally and wished the couple.
Ragupathi Bhat's first wife, Padmapriya was found dead in a flat in New Delhi on June 15, 2008. She had committed suicide in an apartment in New Delhi after she had gone missing. He has two sons from his first marriage.
Raghupathi Bhat started his political carrier as a member of BJP. He was elected to Udupi municipal council and was also the president of district BJP Yuva morcha (Youth wing). He had represented Udupi Assembly Constituency for two terms from 2004 to 2013. He won the Assembly elections from Udupi constituency in 2004 and 2008. Bhat decided not to contest following a sleaze CD controversy, which purportedly had featured him with a woman.
