Mangalore: Vote Online for Akash Shetty to Win Doodle4Google Contest
Mangalore, NOV 4 2013: Karnataka is renowned for the promotion and conservation of art and culture and it has been inseparable part of our culture.
In today's world when we ask any youngster about his / her ambition in life, the most likely answer would be - to become an IT professional, engineer, doctor to get a cushy job and earn handsome salary.

Here is a young lad, Akash Shetty son of Aravind Shetty and Reshma Shetty from Bejai. Akash Shetty is studying in 10th standard at St Aloysius High School. As of now, He has a storehouse of drawings and water-colour paintings to his credit. What makes him exclusive here is, when he exposed his art in Google when they invited youngsters to design a logo (Doodle) for their website, rather submit one with a theme to match their standards, Akash Shetty has achieved better standards than many within India and also all over the world.
He is one among Four in his age group to qualify for Google Doodles. The theme was basically intended to highlight "Celebrating Indian Women". His art was accepted as one of the best among the Four worldwide. This is a proud moment for us Mangaloreans, when our own Mangalorean boy has proved his mettle to reach such high level.
Akash Shetty is the winner of Kalashree State Award 2012 and selected for the National level. Akash joined St Aloysius Primary School where he got good encouragement for his interest in art. He was molded under the able guidance of his art teacher in school. As he reached high school, Akash's abilities were further recognized by his school art teacher, John Chandran.
Akash Shetty says his parents have supported, nurtured and promoted him in expressing his creativity. There is a hero among us here, whom we can proudly call a Mangalorean. Mangaloreans all over the world are requested to promote Akash Shetty by voting for him and make him a winner. Online voting ends on 6-11-2013. so please cast your vote before6 November.
John Chandran, speaking to Mangalorean.com said that it is great joy for him that the fourth year running, his students have reached this level. John also recalls that his son Sarwin Deon had also qualified for the contest when he was in primary school in the year 2009, in 2010 Akshayraj of 9th Std, 2011 Shubham Varnekar was the National finalist. John has been motivating his students to gain top standards in such competitions ever since.
