Introduction:

Karthik Tantri, A successful young Entrepreneur, who Co-Founded "RarePixel Technologies Pvt. Ltd", a Bangalore based Web Design & Development Company in 2009.

Alongside Technology, he is also a Choreographer & had choreographed for many Corporates, Schools, Colleges & also choreographed personally for Sandalwood film stars.
He has performed in many stages like India International Salsa Congress, Kuniyona Baara, Dance Mela, Yuva Dasara etc..

Further to having a desire to expand his dance abilities, Karthik’s long term goal is to be a successful choreographer as well as pursue Entrepreneurial career in Mobile & Web App Development space.


1.What motivated you to enter this field at such a young age?

First it was not the field but my passion helped me to take the first step as an Entrepreneur. Since childhood, I was always passionate about everything I see & feel. I didn’t know what field to choose when I first thought about entrepreneurship. The time when i first created my email… I was like very happy that I can shoot mails to all my friends, relatives or people anywhere across world at one go & reach them faster, which was pretty much difficult offline.
So Web made people very easy to interact online & be in touch & also do lot more things… This small spark made my mind to think about Web & started learning stuffs around Web in my Graduation days which created lots of interest in me.

In 2005 I saw Orkut creating buzz around & in mid 2007 I saw Facebook creating buzz & also I observed many features like online payment, billing, invoice, user management, product catalogue, CMS etc getting automated then I thought this space is really getting hotter & I should do something in this… All these inspired & motivated me towards entering this field.

2.How did your founding team come together?

I joined a Bangalore based Software Testing company “TestingCzars” (currently Verifaya) in 2007.
My partner Satish K S joined 2 days before me & he was into Marketing whereas I was into Software Testing & also I used to support Market Research. So we used to interact a lot regarding Marketing related stuffs, meanwhile got to know more about him & his abilities.
We both had expertise in respective fields. Mainly, both of us had passion & wanted to be Entrepreneurs… It was the time of Recession in 2009, we both decided to quit the current company & start RarePixel.

3.Did you do any Market Research before starting RarePixel?

We were planning to provide Web Design & Development services in which we thought there is no need of any Market Research because there are already lots of companies in Bangalore providing the same services & the competition is very high… But later after the incorporation, we realize that Market Research should be done.
We almost spent 5 months to understand how the market & customer is... Meanwhile we did some small projects too… It helped us a lot to know more about how the customers think & what they lack… So we realize that the Bangalore market is being ruined by many Web Design companies because of the high competition… Many of the customers didn’t know what a website is, why they need it etc... but they wanted a website.
So we at RarePixel, not only thought of executing the projects but also planned to educate our customers & help them to know more about it.

4.Who are your customers, are they from India or from abroad & also what advantages they get from working with you/RarePixel?

We have customers in various industries like Computer Software, Architecture, Education, Photographers, Computer Hardware, Human Resources, Aeromodelling, Travel, Performing Arts etc..

We have customers from India, Hong Kong, USA, UAE & Europe.

We are a customer centric company. We always treat each & every Customer as a KING. With our high level of interactivity, Friendly & Professional relationship, we always made our customers feel comfortable with us … Also our focused customer support helped them to believe in us.

5.Being a young entrepreneur, how hard was it to convince your family & friends about your inclination towards entrepreneurship and starting your own venture?

Me coming from a middle class family & even though Dad was a businessman, it was very tough for me to convince my family. Dad could understand my view of thinking & was happy with my decision… but Mom & others members couldn’t understand... It took almost 1 month for me to convince them & finally somehow I managed.

Also it was tough to convince my Friends because everyone got a job with decent salary & they couldn’t see me in this situation of being an Entrepreneur. But later they understand the value of an Entrepreneur & supported me a lot in many fronts.

6.We heard that you also have a great interest & very much passionate in Dance. Tell us something about the same as well as your Everest Dance Studio?

Dance is always been my passion!

I had background of movie industry as my father Mr.Balaram Tantri was an Actor & Producer.
He had lots of passion towards Dance & Acting, so it’s like passing DNA form Dad to Son.. ;) I also found interest in it & also acted in 2 movies which were produced by my Dad. This helped me to get into Dance at the age of 10.

During my school days, we used to perform a lot at Hampi Utsav, School Annual Day, and Functions etc, which made me to continuously stick to dance & when I shifted to Mysore for my Graduation, I joined the Everest Dance Studio as a dancer & later became the Director.
Now I take care of 2 branches of Everest Dance Studio in Bangalore which has approx 25+ students.

7. Are you proud of what you have accomplished so far?

It’s the beginning & I’m learning yet so the mission is not yet accomplished but yes as a team we have achieved a lot in terms of experience & I’m really proud of it.
Also we failed to achieve some, which had taught us good lessons...

Overall, It’s been a journey of learning, fun, experimenting & execution.

Everyone of you is a born genius; you just need to recognize your God gifted potentials.

Never Copy Others! Just take inspiration & their qualities!

For e.g. in my case, if I try to dance like Michael Jackson & do same like him then everyone compares with & identifies me Michael Jackson not Karthik Tantri.
But the potential in me & the real Karthik Tantri is hidden. You are unique, just Look into your strength, get inspired by some qualities of great people and work on it with all dedications & determinations and the success will all be yours…

And finally, Never ever miss to the opportunity to Learn. Age Doesn't Matter...
You can learn something new even from a boy studying in 5th grade! Always accept the opportunities of those kinds.
