Kundapura: KPKS Urges Government to Provide Land to Homeless Labourers


Kundapura, Sept 30 2013:

The members of the taluk unit of Karnataka Prantha Krishi Koolikarara Sangha, affiliated to the All India Agricultural Workers' Union staged a dharna in front of the taluk office demanding houses for the homeless in the taluk here on September 30.
 


Nithyanada Swamy, President of the Agricultural Laborers association flagged off the protest. The protesters demanded clearance of site documents relating to the homeless laborers. Government should consider the applications immediately and make arrangements for houses in government land.





Besides, it should also take measures to provide land to the landless people. If there is no availability of government land, government should purchase land from private parties and provide houses to the needy. Protesters warned that if the work is delayed the protesters will continue their protest round the clock. They demanded for talks with the Panchayat CEO, PDO's and Municipal Officers.
 
Gayathri Nayak, Tahashildar speaking on the occasion said that a meeting will be called on Tuesday. Concerned officials will look after the clearance of site applications.
 
MLC Prathapchandra Shetty visited the protest place and received the memorandum from the protesters.
 
Dogu Suvarna, President of Laborers Association, Rajeev Padukone, Taluk President Laborers Association, Venkatesh Koni, Nagaratna Nada, H Narasimha K , Shanker, Suresh and others were present.
