Kundapura: Political Veteran A G Kodgi Announces Retirement from Politics


Kundapura, Oct 1-2013:

Political Veteran A G Kodgi aged 85, President of 3rd Financial Implementation Committee officially announced his Political retirement on his 85th birthday here on October 1.


Kodgi addressing the media persons here said that today people expect politicians to be young and demand to set a age limit for politics. It is better for me to step down as per people's wish, expressed Kodgi. The party needs young leaders, instead of being a burden on the party it is better to retire. Politics has transformed, it has become more challenging. Corruption is at peak, constructive criticism is absent, vested interests has ruined my thoughts. People have lost faith in the system. It is the responsibility of peoples representatives and officials to take people into confidence.
 
Sharing his political experience in Congress he said that he served prime positions in the party. "I remained faithful to the party at all times and greatly respect the congress leaders".
 
He then joined BJP in 1993 and served as the President of Kundapur Taluk, Udupi District, State Vice President and other prominent positions. "I have built the party by enrolling 47 lakh members which gives me great satisfaction. In 2009 I was appointed as the president of the 3rd Financial Implementation Committee which seems to be impressive", he added.
 
He concluded saying,“I have great satisfaction by working humbly towards the given task. People were supportive at all times and the leaders have extended their wholehearted support"
