Kundapura: Abhayachandra Jain Lays Foundation Stone for Guide Wall Project at Alvegadde Port

Kundapura, NOV 23 2013: Abhayachandra Jain, Minister for Fisheries with Vinay Kumar Sorake, Minister for Urban Development and Minister in-charge District laid the foundation stone for Guide Wall Project for Alvegadde Port here on 22 November.

The project costing 9.80 crores will facilitate big boats. The project will be completed in September 2015.

Abhayachandra Jain later speaking to the media persons said that the funds are allocated for the fishermen to promote fishing activities in the coastal region. The benefits extended for fishermen houses are increased from 60,000 to 1,20,000. For the development of fisheries roads 60 crores have been allocated. The Mangalore Fisheries College will be upgraded with the grant of 4 crores. The Koderi Port needs additional fund of 33 crores for the second phase. Finance for the same is cleared and needs to be implemented in the cabinet.
Bull troll fishing is causing hurdles for fisherman. After holding talks with the experts ban order will be imposed. The order will come into effect within 15 days followed with an official notification.

Vinay Kumar Sorake speaking to the media persons said that the National Highway project will be completed soon. The Karkala State Highway project has resumed in full swing and efforts will be made to complete the project without delay.
Goapl Poojary MLA, Pratapchandra Shetty MLC, Gauri Devadiga ZP Member, Savithri Narayan TP Member, Rama Mestha President Shiroor Gram Panchayat and others were present.
