Bangalore: Actor Ranjitha Accepts 'Sanyasini' Oath on Swami Nithyananda's 37th B'day
Bangalore: If an ambitious girl becoming a heroine is a remarkable transformation, a heroine becoming a sanyasini is yet another paradigm transformation. And Ranjitha has done that!
Actor Ranjitha officially accepted the "Sanyasini" oath the day before at the 37th birth anniversary of Bidadi Dhyanapeet Ashram's Swami Nithyananda in Karnataka amidst devoted followers from Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu and Kerala. The 38yrs old who has been allegedly linked with Swami Nityananda previously is now conferred with the "Sanyasi oath" by the same Swamiji. Ranjitha changed her name to "Ma Anandamayi" after taking the vows.
Born Sri Valli, Ranjitha was featured in many South Indian films including five films in Telugu. If you can remember, she even featured opposite Jagapathi Babu in S.V. Krishna Reddy's Maavichiguru (1997) and guess what, she won Andhra Pradesh State Nandi Award for Best Supporting Actress for the film. Later she was active on Tamil television until she was religiously oriented. When she was associated with the Bidadi Dhyanapeet, she was allegedly linked with Swamy Nityananda which was denied by her later.
Now, after the entire "Nityananda episode" settled down, Ranjitha turning a Sanyasini has taken her fans aback!
