Kumbashi: Express Bus overturns; Fifteen Passengers injured!

Kundapur: Nearly 15 passengers sustained minor injuries when a bus overturned after hitting another express bus on Tuesday, September 10 at Kumbhasi, near Anegudde Swagatha Gopura here.

The Durgamba bus was plying from Udupi to Kundapur while Vijayalakshmi bus was plying to Mangalore from Kundapur. Eye witnesses said that the Vijayalakshmi bus was speeding to overtake another bus when it rammed into the Durgamba Bus. The Durgamba bus driver losing control over the bus hit the road median and then rolled into a deep gorge nearby. Around 15 passengers were injured. The Vijayalakshmi bus driver along with the passengers sustained minor injuries.

Sources revealed that more than 15 passengers may have suffered injuries, the Durgamba bus driver Ashfaq (23) has been severely injured. Passengers Usha (26), Ganesh(25), Vitalla Bhandary, Sudhakar Shetty, Lalitha(35), Mahalatha(28) and the Vijyalakshmi bus driver Pradeep are undergoing treatment in a hospital in Koteshwar.
A case has been registered in the Kundapur Police Station.
