Puttur: Deviprakash Bhandary in Guinness Book Record-setting Team

Deviprakash Bhandary from here has added a new feather in his cap by being part of a team which has found a place in the Guinness Book of World Records.
This feat of the largest 3G mobile gaming party was attempted and achieved successfully by the Mangalore zone of Bharti Airtel Ltd with 343 individuals playing an online game on their mobile phones under one roof with network reception from a single tower.
For this record attempt, Airtel had partnered with students from the National Institute of Technology- Karnataka (NITK) in Suratkal and were successful in breaking the previous record held by a 157-member London-based team.
This record attempt was initiated by Ram Murthy, Mangalore zonal branch manager and his team with assistance and initiative from sales manager Deviprakash.
Deviprakash, who has also been practising karate over the last 14 years, had attended the World Karate Championships held at Bucharest, Romania in June earlier this year and also the Continental WUKF Championships at Delhi in November 2012.
His recent successes have been in the National-level competition in Vishakhapatnam and Gujarat as well. He is now preparing for the forthcoming South Asia Continental WUKF Karate Championships scheduled to be held in Malaysia in August 2014
'Devi', as he is popularly known, is the son of popular Yakshagana artiste Sridhar Bhandary and Usha from Puttur.
